Blog

Blog (web log)

A blog is an online message board that can be used by an individual person or by groups of people. It is a place to record your thoughts and feelings (like a journal) or your plans and experiences (like a diary). You can also use it as a meeting place for you and your friends or co-workers to share ideas, photos, goals, etc.

Check your class email for an invitation to join the class web log on Blogger. If you are not already a member of Blogger, you will need to sign up. It’s quick, easy, and free! Please use your class name or nickname for your Blogger user ID. J

The class blog name is “eolucla” (http://eolucla.blogspot.com)

Please post a message on the blog. You can write about anything you want, for example:

§ what you did last weekend
§ a fun experience you’ve had in LA
§ your future plans for the remainder of your time at UCLA
§ your feelings about Americans or American culture
§ a movie you saw recently that you loved or hated
§ a great restaurant you tried recently
§ your experience with the LA bus system
§ some new English vocabulary or idioms you learned
§ something that bothered you or made you unhappy
§ the delicious dormitory food!!
§ your wonderful teacher J

You can write about anything you choose. Your blog entry should be at least 5 or 6 sentences. Then read some posting by other students in the class. Look for the comments link at the end of each post. Click on the link and write some comments to your classmates.

Go back to the Blogger home page. Look at the “Blogs of Note” section. Choose some other blogs and read them. Leave comments if you like. What do other bloggers write about? Choose the most interesting blog and post a link to it in the class blog.

Pair up with a partner on the headsets. Talk about some of the blogs you read and the posts you commented on. Think of some different uses for blogs.

Create your own blog.
